Answers to Many Why's of Life
Some answers to some life questions....
1. Why are rain clouds dark?
Rain is water. Water is light in colour. Rain clouds are full of water. Therefore, rain clouds should be light. Impeccable logic, but wrong. Obviously, there are always water particles of water are small, they reflect light and are perceived as white. When water particles become large enough to form raindrops, however, they absorb light and appear dark to us below.
2. How to get enough calcium without drinking milk?
Try calcium-fortified soy milk, though if you suffer from a true food allergy to milk you may also be allergic to soy.
If you can't tolerate soy milk, try a fortified rice or oat milk.
Calcium from supplement isn't a bio-available, but can provide an alternative.
Eat more canned fish bones, green, leafy vegetable, nuts, seeds or beans.
3. Is an aircraft affected if it flies over an area hit by an earthquake or a hurricane?
An earthquake would not affect airspace and thus would not affect a plane flying overhead, says Canadian Air line Pilots Association spokeman John Mazor. When it comes to hurricane, he says, a commercial plane would never get caught in one "because meteorologists are able to track the origin and path of a hurricane with great accuracy and with sufficient warning."
