Words to Remember.....

Words to remember for a while….

Girls are like apples on trees.
The best ones are at the top of the tree.
The boys don’t want to reach for the good ones because they’re afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead they just get the rotten apples that are on the ground, that aren’t as good, but easy.
So the apples at the top think that there is something wrong with them, when in reality, they are amazing.
That is why we just have to be a little patient and the right boy, the one who takes a chance to find the good, right apple, will come someday…

So what are you? a rotten apple or the best apple?

Sabi nga ni Ai Ai "Practice Makes Perfect, but then again Nobody's perfect so why practice" you might ask what's the connection? In her latest movie Tanging ina nyong lahat, the first movie was "tanging ina" after three marriages and twelve children she still found by a bachelor and now in her latest movie he will be the president of a country, so what is she? the best apple?

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS FOR THOSE OVER FORTY YEARS OLD

I know i'm not yet forty years old, but maybe for those who are, might learn something from here.

" The Ten Commandments for those over Forty Years old"

1. Focus on enjoying people, not on indulging in or accumulating material things.

2. Plan to spend whatever you have saved. You deserve to enjoy it and the few healthy years you have left. Travel if you can afford it. Don't leave anything for your children or loved ones to quarrel about. By leaving anything, you may even cause more trouble when you are gone.

3. Live in the here and now, not in the yesterdays and tomorrows. It is only today that you can handle. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow may not even happen.

4. Enjoy your grandchildren (if you are blessed with any) but don't be their full time baby sitter. You have no moral obligation to take care of them. Don't have any guilt about refusing to baby sit anyone's kids, including your own grandkids. Your parental obligation is to your children. After you have raised them into responsible adults, your duties of child-rearing and babysitting are finished. Let your children raise their own offsprings.

5. Accept physical weakness, sickness and other physical pains. It is a part of the aging process. Enjoy whatever your health can allow.

6. Enjoy what you are and what you have right now. Stop working hard for what you do not have. If you do not have them, it's probably too late.

7. Just enjoy your life with your spouse, children, grandchildren and friends.People, who truly love you, love you for yourself, not for what you have. Anyone who loves you for what you have will just give you misery.

8. Forgive and accept forgiveness. Forgive yourself and others. Enjoy peace of mind and peace of soul.

9. Befriend death. It's a natural part of the life cycle. Don't be afraid of it. Death is the beginning of a new and better life. So, prepare yourself not for death but for a new life with the Almighty.

10. Be at peace with your Creator. For... He is all you have after you leave this life.

Warning to all the Women!!!

The right to refuse .. (in Philippines law)

I was talking with a lawyer friend of mine. We were discussing the law and women`s rights.

She told me about this incident – a young girl was raped by a man posing as a plain clothes officer; he asked her to come to the police station when she and her male friend didn ' t have a drivers license to show. He sent the boy off to get his license and asked the girl to accompany him to the police station. But instead, the officer took her to an isolated area where the horrendous crime was committed.

In fact, the law clearly states that between 6 pm and 6am, a woman has the right to REFUSE to go to the Police Station, even if an arrest warrant has been issued against her.

It is a procedural issue that a woman can be arrested between 6pm and 6 am , ONLY if she is arrested by a woman officer and taken to an ALL WOMEN police station. And if she is arrested by a male officer, it has to be proven that a woman officer was on duty at the time of arrest.

It is good for us to know our rights. To what extent it comes of use remains to be seen in any situation. But as they say, knowledge is power. Just thought I`d share this with you. I did not know this and am sure lot of us will not know this- please be informed.... . And pass on this info to whom all u know.......

Story of True Love, Heart Breaking...

They've known each other since their school days and had since become the best of friends.

They shared everything and anything and spent lots of time together in and after school. But the friendship never developed into anything deeper.

Diane kept a secret: her admiration and love for Jack. She had her reasons for keeping it a secret. FEAR. Fear of rejection... fear that he might not feel the same... fear that he might not want to be her best friend anymore... fear of losing someone that she could always find comfort in.

At least if she kept her feelings to herself she would still be able to spend time with him and hopefully, he would be the one to tell her how he felt towards her.

Time passed, and soon school was over. Jack and Diane went separate ways. Jack continued his studies overseas, while Diane got herself a job.

They still kept in touch though, penned letters, sent each other photographs and mailed each other gifts. Diane longed for Jack to be back.

She decided that she would tell him her feelings once he got back. And then out of the blue the mails from Jack stopped coming. Diane wrote to him, but there was never a reply.Where was he? What happened?

Lots of questions ran through her mind. Two years has passed and Diane was still hopeful that Jack would come back or at least send her a note.

And then one day her prayers were answered. One mid-August day, she received a note from Jack. It said: Dear Diane,

I have a surprise for you. I'm flying over. So please meet me at the airport. My flight comes in at 4pm on Saturday. I can't wait to see you again! There's something I need to tell you, something I've been keeping inside all this time and it's worth the wait...

Love & Kisses,JackDiane's fingers shook as she read the note. Her heart soared. Diane was thrilled. Love and kisses? It meant a lot for a lady who had waited so long for those words. She was ecstatic!

The day arrived and Diane waited anxiously for Jack. She had slipped into her best dress and did her best to look as pretty as she could. She looked around but Jack was nowhere in sight. She waited and waited, wondering what she would say to Jack when he gets there, what their meeting would be like?

Would there be love in his eyes? Would there be longing, bred from years of separation and hiding each others'feelings? Oh, how she longed to see him! How she longed to throw her arms around him and tell him she was a fool to ever let him go without ever telling him how she felt!

And she was certain Jack felt it too. Therewas always a certain magic about them when they were together. Then a lady in a sexy, tight blue dress approached her.

She had a very concerned look on her face, "Hi! I'm Lyn, a friend of Jack. Are you Diane?" she asked. Diane just nodded her head."I'm afraid I... I have a bad news for you.

Jack is not coming...

He won't be coming back anymore," said the lady, placing a hand on Diane's shoulder. Diane shook her head in confusion. She felt her heart constrict. What could possibly have happened? Diane felt an overwhelming fear inside her.

Her hands turned cold and she just welled up. Her voice shook as she asked: "Where... where's Jack? What happened to him? Please tell me..."Diane begged the lady...

The lady looked intently at Diane and then she gave Diane a nudge on the shoulder and said...

"HOY GAGA! IT'S ME, JACK... JACKILYN!! DI MO VAH AKO NAKILALA?! ANG GANDA-GANDA KO NGAYON, DI VAAAAH?! ECHUSERA KA NAMAN MASYADO SISTER!KAKALOKA KAH HUH! TEKA, SANDALI MEET MY 'Fafa'!! Sabay grabbed sa arms ng Fafa niyang ubod ng...Kawawang Diane hindi lang nawasak ang pus, inapak-apakan pa ng badaf na Jack na yan, I mean Jackilyn pala!

Why People Yawn?

An article by Jennifer Viegas, in Discovery News entitles "The Yawn Explained: It Cools Your Brain"

She said if your head is overheated, there's a good chance you'll yawn soon. A new study say's that the primary purpose of yawning is to control brain temperature.
These solves the mysteries of yawning, such as why it's most commonly done just before and after sleeping, why certain diseases lead to excessive yawning, and why breathing through the nose and cooling off the forehead often stop yawning.
"The key yawn instigator appears to be brain temperature.
"Brains are like computers," Andrew Gallup, a researcher in the Department of Biology at Binghamton University who led the study, told Discovery News. "They operate most efficiently when cool, and physical adaptations have evolved to allow maximum cooling of the brain."

http://dsc.discovery.com/news/2008/12/15/yawn-brain-head.html

Gallup and his colleagues Michael Miller and Anne Clark analyzed yawning in parakeets as representative vertebrates because the birds have relatively large brains, live wild in Australia, which is subject to frequent temperature swings, and, most importantly, do not engage in contagious yawning, as humans and some other animals do.
Contagious yawning is thought to be an evolved mechanism for keeping groups alert so they "remain vigilant against danger," Gallup said.

"For instance, yawning should not occur when ambient temperatures exceed body temperature, as taking a deep inhalation of warm air would be counterproductive. In addition, yawning when it is extremely cold may be maladaptive, as this may send unusually cold air to the brain, which may produce a thermal shock."

"If air in the atmosphere is cooler than brain and body temperatures, taking it in quickly cools facial blood that, in turn, cools the brain and may even alter blood flow. Prior studies reveal yawning leads to a heightened state of arousal, so a morning yawn may function somewhat like a cup of coffee in providing a jolt of energy.
"The new findings also explain why tired individuals often yawn, since both exhaustion and sleep deprivation have been shown to increase deep brain temperatures, again prompting a yawn-driven cool down. Yawning additionally appears to facilitate transitional states of the brain, such as going from sleep to waking periods. "
"It is interesting to note that instances of excessive yawning in humans may be indicative of brain cooling problems," Gallup, Jr., told Discovery News, pointing out that patients with multiple sclerosis often experience bouts of excessive yawning "and MS involves thermoregulatory dysfunction."
"Bouts of excessive yawning often precede the onset of seizures in epileptic patients, and predict the onset of headaches in people who suffer from migraines," he added.
In the future, researchers may focus more on brain temperature and its role in diseases and their symptoms. But the new study on yawning changes the popular notion that yawns are mere signs of boredom.
On the contrary, as Gallup said, "yawning more accurately reflects a mechanism that maintains attention, and therefore should be looked at as a compliment!"

Quotable Quotes

A few quotables quotes from Bob Ong:

Nosi balasi.
